Grab Your Flashlight, Are You Up For A Challenge?

Have you ever stopped to think about the people who have helped you get where you are? I am referring to the people who inspired, motivated, or came alongside you and encouraged you just when you needed it. Have you let those people know how much you appreciate them – have you ever thought about shining a light on them for their goodness toward you?  When someone goes out of their way to help, you do you remember to thank them – or better yet let their employer know?  Is there someone in your community that you admire because of their determination? Or how about a business that constantly exceeds your expectations?

For a couple of months, I have wanted to launch this challenge and today is the day. I strongly believe one of the first steps in our journey of chasing goodness is to do two things:
1) embrace it,
2) acknowledge it
when it comes our way. We need to calibrate our filters so that we can spot it easily and once we spot it shine a light on it.

So with that in mind, together lets come up with a list of people we want to honor or thank because what they do has – moved, inspired, encouraged or just made us downright thankful. I was thinking we could start small maybe pick three people this week and shine a light on them in our own special way whether it be a phone call, note, tweet, Facebook, your blog, or something even better.  You decide what works best for you! And if you are really up for the challenge – let me know who, what you did to shine the light, and how they responded in the comments section here or maybe write a blog post and link to this one – so that others can be inspired by their goodness. Who knows maybe we could even start a movement!

Here are just a few of the people who have inspired me to write about them:
Elma Roane
Mukhtar Mai
John Dumas
Chris Brogan
The Lovings
Dun & Bradstreet
A simple woman from Calcutta, India

And that’s just my short list. So grab your flash light or your spotlight, a pen (or your key board) and start your list. Are you up to the challenge? Any suggestions of how to shine the light? Don’t forget to comment here and even link back to this post. Let’s get this light moving maybe even around the world. Will you join me? Are you up to the challenge?
